Nearly 300 CAWV members and guests are registered to attend the CAWV Annual Meeting that will be held July 7-10 at The Greenbrier. The meeting will feature many activities for CAWV members, along with a golf tournament, trap / fishing tournaments, in addition to all the amenities offered at The Greenbrier.
Secretary of Transportation and Highways Commissioner Jimmy Wriston, P.E. will be the guest speaker at the Highway/Heavy Division Meeting on Saturday morning. Joan Woodward, executive vice president of Public Policy at Travelers, will share her economic outlook and update on the most pressing public policy challenges facing the Biden Administration at the General Business Session. COVID had driven interest rates to historic lows, now they are headed much higher thanks to the Fed, coupled with the highest inflation rates in 40 years. With the U.S. facing oil shocks and supply chain shortages, she will explain what this means for contractors. She will also speak to the upcoming mid-term elections and what it might mean for tax policy changes, financial services reform, and many other public policy issues. Also, as President of the Travelers Institute, Ms. Woodward will provide a preview of its projects for 2022, including cybersecurity and disaster preparedness.
